Luxury Interior Designer for Jersey & Guernsey
Designing homes in the Channel Islands requires a sensitivity to place — the quality of light, the rhythm of island life, and the balance between heritage and modern living. As an interior designer working with clients in Jersey and Guernsey, I bring a considered, design-led approach that blends refined luxury with practical, beautifully resolved interiors.
Although our studio is not based in the Channel Islands, Jersey and Guernsey are places, Studio Burntwood’s Founder Melissa Read, knows personally. Melissa’s husband was born and raised in Guernsey, and over the years Melissa has spent extensive time across the islands visiting family from her husband’s side. Melissa’s favourite parts of Jersey and Guernsey are St Brelade’s Bay, where her husband spent many a summer visiting his grandparents, and Rocquaine where her husband grew up.
This familiarity with the Channel Islands allows us to design interiors that feel grounded in their surroundings rather than imposed upon them.
Interior Design for Island Living
Island homes come with their own design considerations. Changing light throughout the day, exposed coastal conditions, traditional architecture alongside contemporary new builds — all of these influence how a space should be planned and styled. As an interior designer for Jersey and Guernsey, we approach each project with careful attention to proportion, flow and detail, ensuring the interior enhances how the property is actually lived in.
Whether working on a primary residence, a holiday home, or a property investment, our designs are rooted in longevity, craftsmanship and subtle luxury rather than fleeting trends.
Full-Service Luxury Interior Design
We offer a comprehensive interior design service for Jersey and Guernsey clients, guiding each project from initial concept through to completion. This includes:
Interior architecture and space planning
Detailed floor plans and layouts
Bespoke joinery and cabinetry design
High-quality furniture selection and custom pieces
Luxury interior styling and layered finishes
Window dressings and soft furnishings
Thoughtful colour palettes and material schemes
Every element is considered as part of a cohesive whole. From the grain of timber in a bespoke joinery piece to the way a curtain falls in changing coastal light, the focus is always on precision, balance and atmosphere.
Bespoke Joinery & Furniture Design
Many homes in Jersey and Guernsey benefit from tailored solutions — particularly period properties or coastal houses where standard furniture simply doesn’t work. I specialise in bespoke joinery and custom furniture design, creating pieces that maximise space while feeling elegant and intentional.
Working closely with trusted craftspeople, we design joinery that feels architectural yet refined, from fitted wardrobes and libraries to media units and kitchen details. The result is interiors that feel effortless but deeply considered.
A Creative, Detail-Led Approach
Creativity sits at the heart of our design work. we are particularly drawn to layered interiors — spaces that feel calm at first glance, but reveal depth and detail the longer you spend in them. Texture, tone, proportion and contrast are carefully balanced to create homes that feel both luxurious and personal.
Attention to detail is non-negotiable. Is what elevates a project from “well designed” to quietly exceptional — and it’s something my Jersey and Guernsey clients consistently value.
